Doctor stranger- Episode 2 Review

This episode has been such a whirlwind of emotions. From angst to action , to medical, to angst, to politics, to some humor, to some swag and then to some angst again.

It starts with the daddy hoon's death. Park hoon watches in horror as his father is dying while he's shouting to get the surgery ready those NK officials are pointing the gun at daddy hoon. Seriously who points the gun to someone who's already dead? *eye roll*

Now hoon's gone to Budapest, Hungary. Really he has no choice that NK official is pretty scary! Meanwhile SK PM is also there along with his secretary, the lollipop guy remember?

At the hospital where jae-hee is being treated, that Hungarian doctor hands some medicines to hoon looks like hoon is planning to escape along with jae-hee and that doctor is helping him. Anyway hoon goes to see jae-hee she opens her eyes and recognizes hoon *WOOT WOOT* but put some medicines in her eyes and she looses consciousness again.

Hoon also injects something that will stop her heart. Apparently that's hoon's plan to escape.
After jae-hee's hearts stops everyone thinks that she's dead and after some action hoon manage to revive her heart again and now they are in a car and when that car gets into a accident we see that we that are actually on a bike? HOW when jae hee is not even fully conscious

the poor girl's heart was stopped deliberately and revived again in 5 minutes how did she manage to sit on the bike? But at least she was tied down to hoon from her waist that looked believable.
and someone tell me did he do his own stunts?

Over there PM learns that hoon wants to seek asylum and outright refuses it and he also mentions something about his mum? was she killed? poor woman just should have stayed in america. But we see a flashback where that lollipop guy is taking his mum somewhere in the trunk of his car. Is she still alive? After seeing the flashback i think she is. We might see her later in the show? Different theories are running around in my head...we will just have to wait and watch.

Hoon and jae-hee reach the south Korean embassy but the embassy people don't open the door!! How can someone be so cruel! OMG Poor guy wants to see asylum just let him do that. Seems like the whole world is conspiring against them except for that lollipop guy well his name is kim but i am going to call him lollipop guy.

hoon and jae hee are on the run again while hoon is doing everything for them to be together seems like jae hee's thinking something else. She asks hoon to leave her and he should go. Finally they get caught and mini fight happens and then boom someone's shot WHAT THE FUCK just happened? and omg that's JAE-HEE! NOOOO. After getting shot she's about to fall from the bridge hoon is trying to save her but really its impossible now.

Meanwhile someone among the NK guy tries to shoot hoon but he gets shot instead but by who? Its the lollipop guy!
Oh why he didn't come sooner he could have saved jae-hee!
Seems like writers are trying to kill us in this episode as if jae-hee was not enogh now hoon is also shot in the shoulder and now all the hopes of jae-hee being saved are zero but even then poor hoon is saying to jae-hee that "it's okay, it's okay. Just hold a little longer" GAWWWWD i was full on bawling by this point! And like 5 years before this time also jae-hee tells hoon to not forget her and with the last goodbye she slips from hoon's hands and goes in the water but seems like hoon wants to jump in the water to save and of-course that's the perfect time for police and paramedic to arrive obviously someone has to be alive to keep the show going.

And now we are 2 years forward we are in Seoul some new characters are introduced. And we learn that SK pm will need a heart surgery they are looking for a best team to operate on him and meanwhile hoon is is released from detention center and there's a woman with him calling him older brother.

Hoon runs a small hospital over here and the end we see that his woman friend is re-united with her mother with the help of a man Mr lim. Mr lim mentions jae-hee to hoon. (she's alive?) and tells him that he can get her back to hoon only of he gives her enough money. we also see that someone's spying on hoon.
Mr lim shows jae-hee's recording to hoon and the episode ends there.

This episode was jam packed full of action, drama and angst. I feel that this couple has already suffered too much. Poor hoon lost his father and then again lost jae-hee. When she fell from the bridge i was 100% that she is dead and maybe the one who we will see in south Korea will be her doppelganger but nope she's alive and somehow survived  the transplant operation, heart failure, reanimation, gun shot and fall to the river from at least 20 meters... LOL how is that possible is beyond me but because this is fiction i will ignore it. Hoon also get betrays by south Korea once again! Give that guy a break please. And frankly this whole hunting for the girlfriend is getting kinda boring. I can't wait when finally goes back to south Korea. I hope in the next episode we see that hoon is back in south Korea and is joining the team which will operate on PM. I am really excited to see that!

Doctor Stranger - Episode 1 Review

The much anticipated lee jong-suk's latest show "Doctor Stranger" was premiered yesterday on SBS.

Synopsis:
Doctor stranger is a story about  Park Hoon a doctor, who has a genius IQ. Park Hoon (Lee Jong Suk) is raised in North Korea to become a doctor by his doctor father. After Hoon becomes an accomplished chest surgeon, he defects to South Korea and goes to work in the prestigious Dongwoo University Hospital. As he tries to adjust to his strange new life in South Korea, Hoon does his best to work alongside Han Jae Joon (Park Hae Jin), a Harvard graduate who first discovers Hoon’s talent, while catching the eye of Oh Soo Hyun (Kang So Ra), Jae Joon’s fiancĂ©e and the daughter of the hospital chairman. Anesthesiologist Song Jae Hee bears a strong resemblance to Han Seung Hee (both played by Jin Se Yeon), Hoon’s girlfriend back in the North whom he wants desperately to come join him. Can the genius doctor do what it takes to make a new life for himself and his love in the South?

My Thoughts:

I actually loved the episode it was very intense some parts were real tearjerkers and i already know that this show is going to be a lot angst-y unlike "i hear your voice" In the first episode we see that its the year 1994 and park hoon is a young boy.

"I hear your voice" anyone?

America is about to attack north Korea which may result in a full scale war between north and south Korea. Hoon's father who is a doctor is sent to north Korea to treat the PM in order to prevent the war from happening. After the successful surgery and the confirmation that war is not going to happen park hoon's father plans to go back to south Korea but unfortunately that is not what happens. They are forced to stay in north Korea  and over there in south Korea the government does nothing to bring them .

Now park hoon is a young boy studying to be a doctor in north Korea he also has a pretty girlfriend Song Jae-hee whom he plans to marry.

They actually met when they were younger during the time when park hoon's father did the PM's surgery.

I actually loved the scenes between hoon and jae-hee and i already ship them.

They do seem to have a great chemistry though i can't say much about it since we have seen only one episode yet but they looked kinda cute and jong suk portrayed the romantic role of a boyfriend and later on as a distraught lover perfectly

This hug though ♥

But soon there is trouble in paradise. Their happiness is short lived when hoon goes to Jae-hee's house to meet her father officially. He sees that the family has been captured by the north Korean government although he sees jae-hee's for a short period and they manged to kiss in the rain! LOL. No in all seriousness that kiss was one of my favorite part of the show. Lots of passion and emotion in that kiss. LOVED IT.

Hoon is now determined to find jae-hee and now fast forward 5 years later we see that hoon is now officially a doctor he lives at some medical center solely dedicated to maintaining health of the north Korean leaders. The ones who are brought in can never leave the center and the ones who try it are killed. Hoon is asked to do a surgery of a political prisoner and his daughter. Hoon refuses to do that but later he comes to know that that political prisoner's daughter is actually jae-hee. He recognizes her by seeing the friendship bracelet that she's wearing which he gave to her many many years ago when they were young.

Hoon in order to save her decides to operate on her. Which i found really weird. I mean how can he operate on someone he loves so much. I know that he's a doctor but he has an emotional connection with her since he loves her so much but anyway he operates on her and saves her life

And now he vows to himself that he will protect her no matter what.

In the last scene hoon's father asks him to go to Budapest because that's the only way for hoon to escape but hoon refuses to leave his father and in the end when his father is going back after visiting hoon. He is shot down and killed. That scene totally made me cry. I really really loved hoon's father. The father son relationship is so lovely and they way they calmly and silently supported each other through out. It was very cruel of the officials to kill his father like that since he devoted all his life to north Korea and did whatever they asked him to do. And hoon witnessed his father's murder and they way he kept calling was truly heartbreaking.

I see a lot a of potential to this show. I think the story line is unique the actors are really good. The first episode has definitely left me wanting more and i am looking forward to the next episode and to see how this story unfolds. Like i said above i am total hoon and jae-hee shipper.

I feel they have already suffered too much with jae-hee in prison, tortured and tormented for a crime she did not commit fingers already crossed  for a happy ending. I also have a feeling that this show will take me on a emotional roller-coaster. There are gonna be a lots of tears while watching this show and i am not sure that watching this is while its still a WIP is a good idea but really i love me some angst-y goodness!

Mini review ~ I hear your voice

I normally do not write reviews until i am done with the show or a book that i am watching or reading but this time i had so many feels that couldn't be contained and i had to write about it otherwise i might explode.

I have been recently introduced to the wonderful world of Korean dramas and now i am so obsessed with it i can't wait to explore more!

My first drama was "The Heirs", which is amazing by the way and i will write a detailed review on it later and later on a friend's recommendation i started another one "I hear your voice" and i am loving it even more than the first one.

After i finished heirs which i loved so so much i knew i had to watch more of these wonderful K dramas and i made a long list of lee min ho's shows that i was planning to watch but i didn't wanted to watch another lee min ho show immediately after i got done with the heirs because i knew i wouldn't enjoy it and i will be comparing it with the heirs. One particular show "Boys over flowers" was recommended to me again and again. Its an immensely popular show of south Korea and its a considered a classic and also contributed to the Korean wave but like i said above i didn't want to watch another lee min show immediately and this one sharing the same plot line as heirs was also another reason for me to put it on hold. I wanted to watch it in its whole glory.

Then a friend recommended "I hear your voice" and after reading the synopsis i decided to give it a go and i was sucked in right after the first episode. I realized that it was exactly what i was looking for, no high school romance, strong female lead and low in angst as well

"I hear your voice" is a drama based on 18 episodes It is about a public defender Jang Hye Sung, who is a bold, sassy female lawyer. She is a prickly edge, sharp tongue who doesn't have a bit of concept or manners and finds it hard to be enthusiastic about what she does. The only reason why she has become a public defender is because it pays really well.

Meanwhile, Park Soo Ha

is a 19 years old boy who has the ability or superpower to read the people's minds.

Soo ha discovers his mind reading powers when he witness his father getting murdered when he was 8 years old initially dismissed as car accident case until Hye Sung who was then a 15 year old high school student gives a testimony in court as she is also a witness of the murder. The murderer Jung Woong-in is put to jail but before being taken away he threatens Hye Sung to kill her when he gets released, it is then soo ha vows to protect her.

Fast forward and now hye sung has become a public defender and soo haa is 19 year old high school student. Ever since his fathers murder soo haa has been looking for hye sung and now after many years he finally find hers. Soo haa also learns that Jung Woong-in has been realeased from jail and is looking for hye sung to kill her.

Since soo haa made a promise to hye sung that he will protect her, he befriends hye sung who doesn't recognize him and he starts living at her place. He also has a big crush on her and later realizes that he loves her

but hye sung only considers him as a friend, at least at the beginning and has no romantic feeling for him. Cha Kwan Woo is hye sung's colleague he is a serious, passionate and macho former police officer who becomes a government lawyer.

Together they will team up to solve the cases no one else wants, cases that only have a one percent chance of being found innocent.

I hear your voice is a  romantic comedy with a little bit of  angst. What did i expect? This is a Korean drama duh! I am 10 episodes in the show and i am already worried that it will end too soon.
I really love hye sung's chaarcter she's not a damsel in distress but is a strong sassy female lead with wit and humor.

I really really love her relationship with her mother as well and Hye sung and soo haa look really really good together. Even though they have 7, 8 years age difference, hye sung is older. I was really worried about that because i was not sure if they could pull this off but i was totally wrong THUMBS UP FOR keeping it interesting regardless of the age difference etc

they really look cute together and hye sung is herself in-front of soo haa. she does not has her guard up around him and since they share a history together It makes their relationship genuine and real

I've reached the episodes where hye sung has also started developing feelings for him.

Hye sung also shamelessly takes soo haa helps in solving her cases which is really funny but again she is not  perfect and that's the best thing about her.

Soo hoo on the other hand is completely aware of the dangers that hye sung faces and does everything in his power to help her but later he makes a promise to Hye sung to not to kill Jung Woong-in. Cha Kwan Woo on the other hand is really irritating at least in the initial episodes. He has a crush on hye sung on and is very determined to have her. They both date for a short a period

This drama is very unique in its own way and very very different from the heirs. I am completely hooked and i can't wait to watch the rest but at the same time i don't want it to end! Do you feel me?

I will write a detailed review on it once i complete the show.
